The Workshop was opened with the speeches by the SUAI Rector Yulia Antokhina, Vice-Rector for Research of the State Conservatory Natalia Braginskaya, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Konstantin Losev, Prof. Sabine Iatridou of MIT (USA).
This year the Workshop is attended by experts, researchers and developers from over 20 countries – Austria, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, India, Japan, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, UK, USA etc.
The presentations and talks are made by representatives of MIT (USA), Touro College (USA), California State University San Marcos (USA), University of Music, Karlsruhe (Germany), Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain),University of Kent (UK), University of Zagreb (Croatia), University of Nice (France), Istanbul Technical University (Turkey), Université de Genève (Switzerland) etc.
The Workshop discusses:
- The problems of language and music acquisition; the influence of music skills on language acquisition and language processing; the influence of linguistic skills on music acquisition; the relationship between music and language training.
- The linguistic and music knowledge, their structure and functioning; the explicit and the implicit knowledge of music and language; the similarities and the differences in understanding of music and language.
- The automatic classification of linguistic and music knowledge; formal models of linguistic and music knowledge; musical information retrieval vs. linguistic information retrieval.
Special attention is paid to formal representation of language and music, structure of linguistic and music corpora. Selected revised (double-blind review) papers will be published in the Springer’s Communications in Computer and Information Science series and some selected revised papers in Russian will be published in a special issue of online scientific journal “Philosophy and Humanities in Information Society” (included into Russian Science Citation Index).
